How does line deduplication work?
Deduplication removes duplicate lines while keeping one copy of each unique line. By default, the first occurrence is kept and later duplicates are removed. Case sensitivity can affect matching - Email and email may count as different lines depending on settings.
Can I sort lines in reverse order?
Yes. Dokall supports ascending (A-Z) and descending (Z-A) alphabetical sorting. Numeric lines sort lexicographically by default - 10 comes before 2 in plain alphabetical sort. For numeric sorting, ensure consistent formatting.
What does trim whitespace do?
Trim removes leading and trailing spaces and tabs from each line. This is useful when cleaning data copied from PDFs, web pages, or spreadsheets where invisible whitespace causes duplicate detection to fail.
Can I remove empty lines?
Yes. Enable the remove empty lines option to strip blank lines from your list. This is helpful after deduplication or when cleaning up exports that contain trailing newlines.
Is there a line limit?
No enforced limit. Processing runs in your browser. Lists with tens of thousands of lines work on modern devices. For extremely large datasets (millions of lines), command-line tools like sort -u are faster.
