What is an IP address?
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique numeric identifier assigned to your device on a network. IPv4 uses four numbers (192.168.1.1). IPv6 uses longer hexadecimal addresses. Your public IP is what websites see when you connect.
What is the difference between public and private IP?
Your public IP is assigned by your ISP and is visible to the internet. Your private IP (like 192.168.x.x) is used within your home or office network. Routers translate between them using NAT. This tool shows your public IP.
Why does my IP show a different location?
